The devastating floods of the previous years caused a great deal of damage to Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu. Approximately 347 lives were lost with an estimate of Rs. 8481 crore loss all over the city. The telecom industry alone suffered a loss of Rs. 300 crore and properties were inundated with up to 8 ft of water in prime locations such as OMR and ECR.

The total property consisting of around 26 Grounds  (62,400sqft) has proven to be flood free area as in the 2015 floods there was no water logging. This is due to the fact that the clay soil upto the depth of 12 feet has been removed in the entire property and filled with pit sand. During heavy rains/floods the water goes down
automatically to 12 feet depth.
